Escape means to break free from confinement or control. People may want to escape in order to experience something different and new; however, they could also be trying to flee the situation they are currently in. Society has many aspects that people may want to avoid because of the expectations that they are expected to meet. This photograph is a continuation of my series about the pressures of women in society.

In my photograph, I put pages from magazines on a wall for the background. The magazine pages have photos of models and statements such as "stunning" describing them. The character is holding her head and has a pained facial expression. The idea behind this photo is that the character wants to get out of the pressure she feels from magazines and the media to look like these models in order to be considered beautiful.    

 

An obstacle I encountered while shooting was that there was a glare on the magazines because of the flash from my camera. Also, if I was to re shoot I would use the covers of magazines instead of ripped out pages from them.
