People may put on physical and emotional masks in order to hide some sort of truth from others. A main reason people feel as though they need to put a barrier between themselves and someone else is because of fear or insecurity. Pressures and expectations from society can also play a role in someones motivation for putting up a fake front to other people. In the game of poker, one needs to use a poker face in order to hide one's true feelings from their opponent.

In my photograph, I shot the photo of a close up of a face. The character is holding cards up to her face, covering mostly everything except her eyes. She has a serious expression as seen in her eyes and eyebrows in order to conceal her true feelings about her cards. The cards are a royal flush which is the best hand in poker. The character has on their poker face in order to hide that they had a royal flush.

 

If I was to re shoot I would use plain cards that don't have a picture on them. The Newport Mansions title and picture are distracting in the photo.
